"I love teaching! For 15 years before culinary school, I worked as an advocate for at-risk and traumatized youth and teens. My favorite part of those jobs was teaching and mentoring. For many reasons, I decided to make a career change and follow my heart into pastry. I love to mentor and coach my students, ignite some of that passion, and watch them begin along their journeys. I have found my tribe among the amazing faculty, whom I have had the pleasure of learning from and working alongside."
Chef Meghann owns Blackbird Baking Company in Fort Collins, CO, a completely custom cake and confections company. She auditioned and made the shortlist of 8 final contestants for the Spring Baking Championship on the Food Network. For her Caramel Apple Spice Cake with Pumpkin Pastry Cream Filling, she won first place in the apple-themed contest.
Meghann traveled around Iceland a few years ago, trying their delicacy rotten shark with a black death chaser. She has also tried other culinary delicacies including scorpion. Prior to her culinary career, she worked in mental health and social work for 15 years.
