Smashburger is Colorado’s claim to fame in the fast food burger arena. The chain is based in Denver and boasts 250 restaurants across the country. Additionally, new Smashburger? locations have sprung up in Kuwait, Costa Rica and Saudi Arabia. But what is really impressive about this fast-casual establishment is that it made Forbes’s list of America’s Most Promising Companies.
The restaurant ranked number six in the standings. Its founder and chief concept officer Tom Ryan received a Ph.D in flavor and fragrance chemistry from Michigan State University, so you know he is helping the chain create the dishes at a molecular level.
The eatery claims to have a “burger soul.” It serves up burgers that are smashed, seared and seasoned to order, hence the name. Alongside your sandwich you can order hand-tossed fries with garlic, rosemary and olive oil. The restaurant also offers fried pickles as another side dish. If you don’t eat red meat there are also chicken sandwiches and veggie burgers on the menu.
