This weekend is a great time to check out some up-and-coming Texas wines from Becker Vineyards. On Saturday, June 18 from 11:30 am until they run out, the Hill Country vineyard is hosting a complimentary wine tasting event. At “Vino el Pastor,” enjoy tacos el pastor from The Smokin’ Rose of Texas Barbecue along with some of Becker’s award-winning wines.

If that’s too short notice for y’all, you can also check out their 4th of July Chili Cook-Off. Starting at 11 am, for just $5 you can sample 10 different chili entries while also supporting the Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity. And, naturally, wine sampling will be available to soothe the burn of all those fiery chilis!

While you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to check out Alamosa Wine Cellars in Bend, Texas. Over the July 4th weekend, the winery is participating in the Way Out Wineries’ Picnic Road Trip. For $60, you’ll get wine and food pairings for two, and a chance to collect an 8-piece wine set as you hit all the wineries on the tour.

Not ready to leave the city? Host your own “Texas Two-Sip”! GO TEXAN Wine’s website offers great suggestions on how to enjoy Texas wines right in your own home, no fancy sommelier training required. And for those who like to defer to the experts, consult their list of Austin restaurants that serve Texas wines.
