One of the best ways to relax after a long day of classes at our Boulder culinary program is to gather at a bar with friends rehashing the days events. Here we have assembled some of the best bars to hit up after class for a fun way to unwind.
The Bitter Bar
Located at 9th and Walnut, the Bitter Bar is a world-class cocktail bar that is open nightly from Monday to Saturday. The cozy environment is the perfect spot for such eclectic events as “National Penguin Awareness & Bill Cosby Sweater Appreciation Eve.” While you’re there, be sure to try their Vieux Carre, an update on the classic New Orleans cocktail from the 1930s.
World Famous Dark Horse Bar and Grill
This madcap bar located on Baseline Road boasts a truly unique atmosphere of vintage kitsch. With a burger that has been highlighted by USA Today, the Dark Horse is a great place to unwind around one of the pool tables or out on the patio with friends.
Avery Brewing is a highly revered brewery located on Arapahoe Avenue. Their wide selection of craft brews offers something for every palate and is often changing. Brush up on your beer-making knowledge by taking a free brewery tour.
If you are looking for whiskey, look no further than Sundown Saloon. Boasting one of the best whiskey selections in town, this dive bar on Pearl Street gets rave reviews for its generous hosts and exposed brick and wooden beams interior.
No list of Boulder bars would be complete without mention of the Sink. A Boulder institution, the Sink is the ultimate college dive bar. Located on 13th street, the bar’s low ceilings add a certain intimacy to the atmosphere. The Sink is notable for its brushes with stardom, which includes visits from Barack Obama and actor Robert Redford, who was once a janitor there.
