Do you ever just crave a big, juicy burger? Like throwing diet plans you’ve been following out the window for some delectable red meat? Whether you’re taking cooking classes in Boulder or not, everyone deserves to know where some of the city’s best burgers reside for situations just like that. Check out some of these Boulder neighborhood favorites:

Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery

This bar has an extensive beer menu, because they know what goes best with a burger and hand-cut fries. The restaurant is cash-only with an ATM, but if your only available form of payment is credit card, or in strange cases, personal check,  the staff wants you to stay and enjoy your food. You can get a “karma check,” which is a self-addressed, stamped envelope that you mail your payment back to them.

Dark Horse Bar
2922 Baseline Rd., Boulder

Open since 1975, this neighborhood favorite is decorated with turn-of-the-century antiques and movie props. Dark Horse offers foosball, pool, video games and an awesome burger. The Jiffy Burger, made with peanut butter, bacon and provolone cheese, is the signature dish and the bar was featured in USA Today’s “Places to eat a burger worthy of paradise.” But don’t worry vegetarians, there are some dishes for you too!

The West End Tavern

Enjoy one of West End Tavern’s signature burgers with views of the mountains on the roof top patio along with a beer from one of the 25 taps. Made with premium meat and hearty buns, all of West End’s burgers are under $15, except for the Buffalo & Green Chile Burger made with ground bison. While it’s a family-friendly place, fun stuff for adults is offered, like Strawberry Bourbon Shakes and Bourbon Root Beer Floats.

Attic Bar and Bistro

With a different burger of the week every week, it’s no surprise that Attic Bar and Bistro knows how to make a burger. The owners are from Wisconsin, so they especially take pride in the wide selection of cheeses for the burgers. Be sure to start your meal with an order of cheese curds! You’re not actually be in Wisconsin at Attic Bar, but you should still do as the Wisconsinites do.
