Austin welcome cardFor students of Austin culinary arts programs, there’s certainly no shortage of phenomenal restaurants to attend during their time off from studying. That said, that list is about to get even more impressive, as a flagship restaurant will be opening very soon in the new IBC Tower downtown. According to the Austin Business Journal, Fixe Restaurant, which is located on the ground floor of the new structure, will be opening on Christmas Eve after a long build up. Austin residents have been anticipating this opening for some time, and with good reason, as it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting developments of the year in the city’s culinary scene.

According to its website, Fixe aims to bring the notion of southern hospitality to a new level when it opens in Austin. The restaurant serves what they call ‘Sunday Supper’ every night, offering up different and innovative takes on staple dishes. A collaboration between two co-owners, Keith House and James Robert, the restaurant will capitalize on Robert’s culinary experience. He will serve as executive chef while House will handle the front of house business as director of operations.

While the restaurant won’t be open to the public until Dec. 24, 2014, details of its atmosphere and styling further reinforce the theme of southern class and comfort. Multiple news outlets have reported that the dining room will feature leather benches designed to look aged as well as brass fixtures and southern-inspired plateware and cocktails. The kitchen of the establishment is also designed to offer patrons a clear view of the cooking staff during food preparation, creating a fun element of exhibition for all customers.
