Forbes names Boulder a secret foodie cityThe Forbes Travel Guide has named Boulder one of its five secret foodie cities. The travel offshoot of the major investing periodical listed Boulder next to Minneapolis, Columbus, Little Rock and Asheville. Noting the city’s traditional association with snow and skiing, the publication points out several local hotspots such as the Flagstaff House restaurant, Food at the Riverside, and Bramble & Hare. Students of Boulder culinary classes will be glad to hear that their city is gaining national attention for its developing foodie scene. Flagstaff House
This fine dining French-American restaurant is built into a mountainside at an elevation of 6,000 feet, providing diners with spectacular views of the city of Boulder below. Owned and operated by Don Monette and his two sons Mark and Scott, the pride and joy of this establishment is its wine cellar of over 12,000 bottles. The wide selection of rare and interesting vintages has earned the Flagstaff House Wine Spectator’s Grand Award year after year. This place is a must-see for wine enthusiasts and foodies alike.

Food at the Riverside
Another restaurant with a view, Food at the Riverside is the only place guests can dine on a patio overlooking Boulder Creek. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant is noted for such exciting breakfast offerings as lobster benedict and Buffalo steak and eggs. Executive chef Corey Buck and general manager David Nestler have come together to create not only a place to dine, but a meeting place for the growing population of tech entrepreneurs in the area.

Bramble & Hare
This restaurant markets itself as “the original Farmhouse Kitchen and Pub” due to its relationship with farmstead Bramble Hill. Chef Eric Skokan and his wife Jill own both the farm and the restaurant, allowing them to create menus that are truly farm fresh.
