Austin Restaurant week, a long-running culinary event, will take place from May 11-14 and 18-21. During this bi-annual, eight-day dining extravaganza, locals can choose to eat at any of the participating restaurants for brunch, lunch and dinner. Each establishment offers a different specially priced prix-fixe menu from which customers can choose. For five years, the event has given various restaurants the opportunity to showcase their spring and fall menus to a wide customer base.
Helping out local organizations
The proceeds coming from this big event will go toward Meals on Wheels and More, which is an organization that delivers hot and nutritious meals to elderly people or those who are unable to prepare food for themselves. For each meal ordered, $2 will be donated to the organization. People will not only get to enjoy delicious and high-quality plates of food, their money will be going to a great cause. Since 2011, the Texas event has raised more than $72,000 to help those in need.
“Austin Restaurant Week is such an incredible event; not only do you get to enjoy the finest restaurants in town for much less than you would normally spend, but you also help feed some of our community’s most valuable citizens,” Dan Pruett, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels and More, told Austin Eater.
During the 2012 event, you could opt for a three-course dinner that cost anywhere between $26-36. If you stopped in for a two-course lunch, you would be paying a mere $11-16, and for brunch, $16-21. Enroll in an Austin culinary arts school to create elegant meals that you would see at any of these establishments.
After a fall hiatus, Austin Restaurant Week will be coming back in May. The 2012 event featured culinary favorites such as Uchiko, Eleven Plates and Wine, Haddington’s, Driskill Grill, Austin Cake Ball Kitchen & Bar, Botticelli’s South Congress and more.
