Did you know that food celebrity Alton Brown has a touring variety show? Well, it just made a stop in Austin in late January. Brown hosted a 90-minute show at the Moody Theater, according to Austin 360. The chef’s 40-city tour combines live music, multimedia lectures, comedy and, of course, food experiments.
Throughout the showcase, Brown calls on people from the audience to join in as his culinary assistant, and be forewarned, there is a chance of getting messy. There are a variety of upcoming tour dates for the show, including a stop in Denver on Feb. 3.
As for some specifics about the recent show in Austin, it was an evening full of quirky antics by the Food Network host. According to the source, Brown spoke about various topics from raisins to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Additionally, select audience members got a chance to participate in on-stage experiments like making ice cream with a fire extinguisher and baking pizza with tiny light bulbs. The event also features a poncho zone, so cover up if you’re in the blast area at one of his shows.
Check out this event if you attend culinary school in the Denver-Boulder area, because it is coming to you soon.
