The Home Cook program here at the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts is really designed to take a home cook who really wants to take their cooking at home to a whole new level. What we do here is offer either one night, very specific workshops, or we offer up to a 20-week, very advanced recreational course. We do anything from cuisine specific classes such as Thai food, sushi, and then we offer our signature 5-day workshops called Basics Cooking Techniques, Intermediate Cooking Techniques… along those lines. Yeah, let them cool a little bit then just take a paring knife and just kind of slip the skin right off. The Home Cook Program here is a wonderful opportunity for people to come and get in an industrial kitchen without the pressure of becoming a professional. They want to just learn, and become more intimate with cooking in general. I can kinda relate to my experiences because I started in the culinary world taking classes here at the culinary school. And I think the motivation for a lot of people is just a real interest in culinary in general. They’re foodies, they like to go out and eat and they’d like to learn how to make some of the things that they experience in some of the local restaurants. They’re able to look at what we do here and take their home cooking to an entirely different level, really, not only impressing themselves in some ways but their friends, their family, and just enjoying the whole experience. While you’re in your home cook class it’s a great opportunity to meet people that have the same interests as you, who really have a passion for cooking. We’re constantly adding new classes to our calendar based on, first and foremost, seasonality, and what our community here is asking us for. What we’re gonna use here is a fish spatula. What we’re gonna do is we’re gonna lift them up and then we’re just gonna flip them right over into the pan. Just like that. And I want a little more heat. Now you can go ahead and coat that side as well. The Home Cook classes are a great way to bring home the skills you’ve learned in your class and share them with your friends and family.
