Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts is proud to partner with The Colorado Pork Producers Council to present The Sensational Sausage Culinary Competition! This competition is open to all active Escoffier students. Contestants have the opportunity to compete virtually for cash prizes and a chance for their recipe to be featured on the menu at a Colorado restaurant! 

Contestants are asked to create an original pork sausage recipe and upload the recipe and a series of photos of their work for consideration. Submissions will be accepted from Tuesday, October 24 – Friday, November 24, 2023.

Competition Details and Eligibility:

This contest is open to active students at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. This includes all program students attending the ground campuses (Boulder and Austin) and online programs. Each participant is allowed one entry. 

Winners Will Be Awarded As Follows*:

  • 1st place – Recipe will be featured on the menu at a Colorado restaurant and a $1000 prize
  • 2nd place – $750 prize 
  • 3rd place – $500 prize 

*Winners will receive a check in the mail with the amounts indicated above to the mailing address they input on the competition submission form.

Submission Instructions:

Step 1: Create a pork sausage that is your own personal recipe

Step 2: Share typed recipe and take 3 photos that illustrate your recipe in the following stages:

  • On a document, type up your recipe. Please include ingredients and process/instructions 
  • Photo 1: Mise en Place (gathering and preliminary preparation of the ingredients)
  • Photo 2: In process (include photo of recipe midway through – actual photo of sausage)
  • Photo 3: Final recipe (actual photo of final sausage)

Step 3: Contestants must fill out our registration form, submit a documented recipe and 3 photos from step 2. Submissions will be accepted from Tuesday, October 24th – Friday, November 24th, 2023.

Deadline for entry is November 24th, 2023 by 11:59 pm CT.

Judging Criteria:

Dishes will be judged according to the following criteria:

1. Creativity
2. Technique

Winners will be determined by a panel of chef judges from Escoffier’s academics team and the Colorado Pork Producers Council

Winners:

Winners will be notified via email by December 7th, 2023. In order to be notified, please include a personal email address on the submission form.

Rights in Submissions:

Each participant will be reimbursed for up to $6 for the pound of pork needed to make the sausage in their submission/recipe. In order to be reimbursed, the participant will need to upload their receipt including the purchase details of the pork used for the recipe to the submission form. The participant will be mailed a check from The Colorado Pork Producers Council to the mailing address they include on the submission form.

By entering The Sensational Sausage Culinary Competition, each participant is giving Colorado Pork Producers Council and Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts the permission and rights to use your sausage recipe, the picture of your dish, your name and your headshot on all media platforms, social media platforms, and marketing material; including but not limited to local/national television shows, instagram, facebook, websites and recipe cards. Depending on the location of the first place winner, The Colorado Pork Producers Council might want to be introduced and gift the first place winner extra prizes. The Colorado Pork Producers Council will reach out via email for a headshot of the winners after the winners are announced. By entering and completing the registration process, you certify the recipe submitted is your own creation and not the property of another entity.
