Chef Andrew Lakin

About

Chef Andrew loves to cook and teach—two skills he was able to use to train stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edbiri on cooking fundamentals for Hulu’s hit show, The Bear.

Before he was chef instructor to the stars, Chef Andrew fell in love with farm-to-table cooking. He believes that building relationships with farmers and using the best possible ingredients makes the job of a chef easier. He also supports sustainable fishing practices and avoids those species that are under threat whenever possible.

After an undergraduate degree in American History and culinary school at Kendall College in Chicago, Chef Andrew began to work the local restaurant scene. This included time working as entremetier at Michelin-starred Everest and as poissonier at Michelin-starred Ambria.

Chef Andrew later relocated to Los Angeles to work as chef de cuisine at the W Hotel under award-winning chef Kelly Courtney. Since then, he has helped open a laundry list of top L.A. restaurants like Gjelina, Post & Beam, and Mixed Company.

With over 20 years of cooking experience and more than 5 years of teaching, Chef Andrew is a welcome asset to the culinary arts faculty.
