These salsa recipes are sure to please your guests.

Salsa can be the main attraction at your appetizer table. For your next cookout or picnic, try one of these unique recipes. Featuring the freshest ingredients, these salsa recipes are perfect appetizers to please a crowd.

Pomegranate salsa
This tangy pomegranate salsa is tasty and good for you. It combines many different kinds of fresh produce, making it perfect for a summer get together. The ingredients are:

  • 1 teaspoon of grated lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup goji berries
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • 1 cup diced cantaloupe
  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Combine all the ingredients, cover and refrigerate for an hour (or until the goji berries are plump). Serve with your choice of chips.

Watermelon salsa
For some, watermelon is the go-to summer fruit. But ever try putting it in a salsa? The cool sweetness of the watermelon mixes with the spicy peppers to create a perfectly balanced appetizer. The ingredients needed for this recipe are:

  • 3 cups watermelon, cut into small dice
  • 1 cucumber, seeded and cut into small dice
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, minced
  • 1 small red onion, cut into small dice
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup mint, chopped
  • Zest and juice of 2 limes
  • Salt and pepper

Combine the watermelon, cucumber, jalapeños, red onion, cilantro, mint, lime zest and juice in a serving dish. Season with salt and pepper just before you serve to keep the watermelon from extracting its juice.

Chipotle cherry salsa
This recipe is originally paired with duck tacos, but it holds its own as a salsa, as well. This savory blend combines the smokiness of chipotle chillies, the freshness of basil and cherry, and hints of balsamic vinegar. The ingredients include:

  • 2 cups cherries, pitted
  • 1 chipotle chili in adobo or to taste, chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, diced
  • 1 small clove garlic, grated
  • 1 handful basil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Puree everything until smooth and pair with chips to serve.

Cilantro peach salsa
Another recipe that can be paired with tacos, this fruit salsa is unlike any other you’ve had before. It combines peaches, habanero chili, cilantro and is brightened with some lime to provide a sweet and tangy flavor. The sugar in the peaches really brings out the flavor once refrigerated. Here are the ingredients:

  • 4 fresh peaches – peeled, pitted, and diced
  • 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar

Mix the peaches, onion and cilantro together in big bowl. Drizzle with lime juice. Sprinkle with sugar and toss. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.

Avocado and black eyed pea salsa
This salsa is colorful and perfect for summer. It’s an innovative take on Mexican salsa with a kick from red wine vinegar, cumin, garlic and olive oil. It’s ingredients are simple yet deliciously healthy. Here is what you need:

  • 2 ripe but firm avocados
  • diced 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (11 ounce) can of corn
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black eyed peas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Lightly mix the avocados, green onion, cilantro, tomatoes, corn and black eyed peas in large salad bowl. Then, whisk the red wine vinegar, olive oil, cumin, and minced garlic together in a separate bowl, and pour over the salad. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and lightly toss the salad again. Chill for one hour before serving, to blend all the flavorful juices.
