How to Get Your High School Diploma or Transcript

If you graduated from high school, there are three primary options for obtaining proof of your graduation.

Option 1: Check your high school’s website

Look for pages with titles such as “Student Services,” “Alumni,” or “Transcripts.” These pages often explain how to request your transcript online or provide contact details for someone who can help.

Option 2: Call the school’s main office

If you can’t find the information you need online, call the school and let them know that you’re trying to get a copy of your high school transcript. They should be able to connect you with the registrar or records department.

Option 3: Use a third-party service

If your school is closed or unresponsive, you could try third-party services like:

Note: These services may charge fees and shipping costs, so try the school first to save money.

How to Get Your Transcript If Your High School Closed

In many cases, getting your proof of high school graduation can be as simple as reaching out to your school. But what do you do if the school you attended has closed? Don’t worry—there are still options available to you.

If you attended a public high school

If you attended a public high school, then the school district office should still have student records for all schools in that district and can usually send an official transcript on your behalf.

Contact the district office for the school district your high school belonged to. To find it, you can search online: “school district [name of your high school] [state].” If you aren’t able to find it that way, you can also find your school district on the National Center for Education Statistics website.

If you can’t find your school district, or if the district no longer exists, then you can reach out to your state’s Department of Education for your transcript instead.

If you went to a private high school

If you went to a private school, you can search for your records or contact information on the National Center for Education Statistics page for private schools.

If those options don’t work

Regardless of whether you went to public or private school, if you aren’t able to obtain your documentation via the above methods you can try third-party services like:

Note: These services may charge fees and shipping costs, so try the school first to save money.

How to Get Your High School Equivalency Exam Results

If you took a high school equivalency exam like the GED, HSED, HiSet, or TASC, you can use your results as proof of graduation when applying to Escoffier. Here’s how you can get your hands on the documentation you’ll need.

How to Get Your GED Scores

If you earned a GED, follow these steps to obtain your transcript.

Step 1: Log in to your GED account at GED.com.

Step 2: Navigate to “My Scores” to view your scores.

Step 3: Select “Request Transcript.” At this point, you’ll be directed to your state’s designated service provider, such as Parchment or DiplomaSender, to complete your request.

Note: If you took the GED before 2014, you might need to follow state-specific procedures. Visit GED Transcripts and select your state for detailed instructions.

How to Get Your HSED Scores

If you earned an HSED, follow these steps to obtain your transcript.

Step 1: Go to DiplomaSender.com. This is the official record provider for many states that issue HSEDs.

Step 2: Create an account (or log in, if you already have one).

Step 3: View or request your scores. If your state uses DiplomaSender, you’ll be able to access your HSED scores and send official copies to Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

Note that each state maintains its own records for high school equivalency tests. If DiplomaSender doesn’t have your records, contact the organization where you took the HSED test for more information.

If you’re still unable to receive your test results, reach out to your state’s Department of Education for assistance.

How to Get Your HiSET Scores

If you passed the HiSET exam, follow these steps to obtain your transcript.

Step 1: Log in to your HiSET account at HiSET.org.

Step 2: Navigate to the “Scores” section to view your results.

Step 3: Request an official transcript using the Parchment service linked within your HiSET account.

As an alternative, you can also visit Parchment’s HiSET page for transcript requests (rather than obtaining your transcript through HiSET directly).

How to Get Your TASC Scores

If you passed the TASC exam, follow these steps to obtain your transcript.

Step 1: Visit DiplomaSender.com.

Step 2: Create an account (or log in, if you already have one).

Step 3: Request your official TASC transcript to be sent to Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

If DiplomaSender doesn’t have your records, contact the organization where you took the TASC test. If you’re still unable to receive your test results, reach out to your state’s Department of Education for assistance.

How to Get Your Official College Transcript

If you completed an associate or higher degree program from an accredited institution, you can use an official transcript from that institution to satisfy the proof of graduation requirement. Follow these steps to obtain your official transcript.

Step 1: Search for your college’s registrar or student records office webpage.

Step 2: Look for a section labeled “Request Transcript” or “Transcript Services.” You’ll likely be directed either to the school’s internal request form, or to a third-party service like Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse.

Step 3: Submit your request—this will likely involve:

  • Entering your student info (such as student ID, year of graduation, etc.)
  • Selecting a delivery method (electronic or paper)
  • Paying any fees (usually $5 to $15)

How to Get Your Homeschool Documentation

If you were homeschooled, you’ll need some form of documentation to demonstrate the completion of your education. Escoffier accepts documentation that is considered official by your local and/or state agencies; requirements vary from state to state, but acceptable forms of documentation may include notification to the required agency, academic transcripts, and proof of graduation.

Here’s how you can obtain the homeschool documentation you’ll need to provide with your Escoffier application.

Notification to the Required Agency

Ask your parent or guardian for a copy of the original Notice of Intent to Homeschool or any official confirmation from your local school district or state.

If they can’t find it, contact the school district where you lived during homeschooling and ask if they have a record of your homeschool registration.

Academic Transcripts

Request a transcript from your parent, homeschool teacher, or program administrator.

Proof of Graduation

Ask your parent or instructor for a homeschool diploma or letter confirming that you completed your high school education.

If they didn’t make one, they can create one now; use a tool like HomeschoolDiploma.com, or print one using a free template online.

How to Get Your DD Form 214

If you are a U.S. veteran, a DD-214 form may be able to be used to satisfy Escoffier’s enrollment requirement. Escoffier will accept a DD-214 if you cannot obtain your diploma from your school; it must include your high school graduation information, including a graduation date.

Here’s how you can obtain your DD Form 214, which could serve as your proof of graduation.

Step 1: Visit the National Archives website.

Step 2: Click “Start Request Online” to access the eVetRecs system.

Step 3: Submit your request for your DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

Step 4: Choose your preferred delivery method (most requests are mailed). Allow 2–4 weeks for processing.
