Spring has officially arrived and that means one thing: summer is right around the corner! Perhaps one of our favorite things to enjoy in the warmer months are all of the outdoor music festivals that have popped up around the country. From Coachella in April to Riot Fest in September, there’s a little something in there for just about everyone. Whether or not you’re into the festivals attended by 300,000 or 300, being prepared with snacks is a must if you’re in it for the long haul. Don’t let long lines and high prices inhibit your good time. These on-the-go snacks are a great way to keep your energy up so you can enjoy all the music you want to.

Trail Mix

With a little bit of everything, trail mix is a great option for just about everyone. Depending on what you like, you can get your mixes with assorted nuts, dried fruit, chocolate or coconut to give you the fuel you need to keep on trekking through your day. Depending on the time of year, it also travels easily and often comes in recloseable plastic bags that make it ideal for the unexpected weather that summers tend to bring.

Dried Fruit

Dried fruits makes a great addition to any of the other snacks you bring along. Those good, natural sugars will help keep your energy up while you bop around from one act to the next. Plus, you can mix and match your favorite flavors making a dried fruit smoothie. They’re healthy, they’re filling and they travel well. Dried fruit all the way!

Fresh Fruit

The alternative to dried fruit would be the fresh stuff. Depending on the heat and how much movement you do at the festival, this may not be the best option for you. But for those who are a little less energetic, fresh fruit can be a refreshing way to curb hunger and keep you trekking through your day. You could do something as simple as an apple or even bring small Tupperware containers of berries. Fresh fruit is definitely a compact, handy snack that should be part of your mix!

Energy Bars

No matter your cravings, there’s any energy bar out there for you. They make raw, vegan, gluten-free and body builder variations which offers a little something for everyone. They’re handy and as long as they don’t have chocolate, they hold up well with warmer temperatures. They come in waterproof packaging and don’t take up too much space in your backpack. Definitely pack some of these for your music festival fun!

Beef Jerky

Beef jerky has come a long way since the days of Slim Jims. Often found now without MSG in health food stores and with a variety of flavors, this high-protein snack can help break up all the sugar options. Protein has a longer lasting energy impact
and can also help you feel fuller faster than some of the other choices.
