Try some local Austin favorites when you get hungry at Fun Fun Fun Fest.

Try some local Austin favorites when you get hungry at Fun Fun Fun Fest.

The 10th anniversary edition of Fun Fun Fun Fest hits Auditorium Shores Nov. 6-8, with an enormous and eclectic lineup of performers featuring something for every taste: indie rock, hip hop, electronic dance music, R&B, pop punk, hardcore and heavy metal, not to mention a comedy stage.

You may have planned the acts you hope to catch this weekend, but have you considered what you will eat in between? The Austin culinary arts scene will be on full display this weekend, with food vendors offering enough variety to match a music festival that brings together Wu-Tang Clan, Jane’s Addiction, Venom and CHVRCHES. Read on to learn about some of the restaurants that will be vending their wares to hungry festival-goers:

Haymaker
Haymaker specializes in big flavors and portions. The pub’s “regionally inspired comfort sandwiches” include a namesake that features roast beef with French fries as a topping, plus gruyere sauce, coleslaw, tomatoes and a fried egg. Perhaps its greatest claim to fame, however, are the two varieties of poutine: The traditional poutine consists of fries covered in brown gravy and cheese curds, while the southern style substitutes in white gravy. In either case, bacon is an option as well.

Austin’s Pizza
With 10 locations offering delivery in town, Austinites have come to expect they will be able to order Austin’s Pizza anywhere they go. Fun Fun Fun Fest is no exception. Austin’s is known for offering gluten-free personal pizzas in addition to traditional thin and thick crust, and the restaurant also substitutes in vegan cheese upon request, though there is an additional charge.

Burro Cheese Kitchen
Burro’s grilled cheese will keep you going through another set with a classy and delicious spin on a comforting favorite. The sandwiches are made with artisan bread, local, small batch cheeses and your choice of various specialty additions. The Croque-Madame, for instance, comes with smoked ham, gouda, pesto aioli, fried egg and dulce de leche.

Chi’Lantro
These Mexican-Korean fusion purveyors now have two restaurants in Austin but still retain the food trucks where the business started. Designed for portability as well as bold taste, Chi’Lantro’s food is ideal for the festival environment. The beloved kimchi fries are topped by the Korean dish of fermented and spiced vegetables, along with cheese, onions and sriracha. All entrees, including tacos and burgers, come with a choice of bulgogi – Korean-style grilled marinated beef or pork – or chicken or tofu.

Kebabalicious
You know precisely what to expect from this downtown Austin food truck staple: pitas filled with beef and lamb, chicken or falafel and a glorious assembly of vegetables, tzatziki and spicy sauce. There is nothing more satisfying after a night of music and drink, and that goes double during a high-intensity experience like Fun Fun Fun Fest.

El Chilito
If you need some Tex-Mex cuisine to keep you going through the day, El Chilito serves up the quality burritos and puffy tacos you’re after. In case you’re unfamiliar, a puffy taco features a tortilla prepared by deep frying fresh masa. The result is wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Nada Moo!
The ice cream at Nada Moo! involves no dairy products. Instead, this local, family-owned business uses coconut milk to produce classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and creme. Some more unconventional choices include a blend of bananas, peanut butter and chocolate or maple pecan. In all cases, the delicious ice cream is organic, free of genetic modification and vegan

Bananarchy
If you’re ready for dessert and want something unique to satisfy your sugary craving, reach for one of these treats inspired by the cult television show Arrested Development. Bananarchy dips its fair trade bananas in vegan chocolate, peanut butter or vanilla before adding toppings like nuts, granola, candy or coconut.
