The best first dinner date spots in BoulderIt’s a tricky situation, and we’ve all been there. You finally got a date with that special someone, and you’re dying to make a great first impression on them. Hey, who can blame you? Here’s the problem, though: You haven’t the faintest idea of where to take that special someone. Obviously, dinner is a safe bet, but it’s also so run of the mill that you fear the experience won’t stand out in their mind. Well, the good news is that if you live in Boulder, you don’t need to be a student of a Colorado culinary school to benefit from the area’s vast array of great restaurant options. While selecting a date spot from the city’s massive culinary scene can seem intimidating at first, you’ll quickly find that there are a number of establishments perfect for a dinner date. Take a look at these ideas for dinner date spots in Boulder and rest easy knowing that the worst you can do is spill on yourself.

Sherpa’s
It’s hard to go wrong when you plan a first date at Sherpa’s Adventurers Restaurant & Bar. The establishment features some of the best Indian cuisine available in the city and what’s more, the atmosphere is simply perfect for a first date. Located on Walnut Street, the restaurant is housed in an old but well maintained Victorian building that is sure to set the tone for interesting conversation. Further, the eatery boasts a beautiful outdoor patio that you and your date can enjoy during the warmer months of the year. If Indian food isn’t your scene, no need to worry. The restaurant also offers culinary excellence in Tibetan and Nepalese dishes.

First Bite
One of the most awkward parts of any first date is determining whether or not you’re going to get to take your date out once more. You don’t want to come off as too eager by broaching the subject immediately on your first time out, but it is a pertinent question. Luckily, November offers Boulder residents an opportunity to lock a few dates into one experience. First Bite Boulder, an annual celebration of area restaurants, occurs each year in late Autumn and makes for a wonderful multi-day date. Essentially, the event offers reduced cost prix-fixe menus at more than 40 of Boulder’s best and most interesting establishments across a week long period. Get your tickets early and plan to take your date out a few times.

Japango
Another gem from the downtown district of Boulder is Japango, a local sushi restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. Formal enough to seem romantic but also casual and carefree, Japango features a broad array of different types of sushi that cater to everyone from novices to true enthusiasts. With a moderate price point, you won’t have to sweat the bill, and the restaurant frequently offers wonderful specials on both sushi and cocktails. As a fun tip for a late night option, the restaurant has a happy hour twice a week from 10 to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
